Pianist Seong-jin Cho To Release Debut Album In November!
[by Yoonjung Yi] Pianist Seong-jin Cho, the 17th winner of the world-renowned ‘International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition’, will release a debut album in November.
His debut recording, made from the competition finals themselves, includes Chopin’s ‘Prelude Op.28’, ‘Nocturne Op.48, No.1’, ‘Piano Sonata No. 2, Op.35’, and ‘Scherzo No.2, Op.31’.
The fans’ anticipation has heighted as the album will be released by Deutsche Grammophon, the legendary classical music label company.
The winner’s album scored number one in pre-ordering charts on Kyobo Online Bookstore, and second on Aladin, which surpassed the popular k-pop stars IU, f(x), BTOB, and Taeyeon’s albums. A classical music record has never ranked number one in a Korean overall music chart before, proving Seong-jin Cho’s exceptional recognition amongst the mass public.
Seong-jin Cho started piano at the age of 6, and played the violin and piano until 6th grade. Then, he won the Kumho Prodigy Concert at 11, the International Fryderyk Chopin Competition for Young Pianists in 2008, as well as Third Prize in the international Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011 and Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in 2014.
Meanwhile, Seong-jin Cho’s award-winning record will be out on November 6, and is available for pre-ordering in major music sites. (photo by Universal Music Group International)
